24th Annual Mountain Glory Festival Marion, North Carolina - Celebrating Small-town Living in the Mountains October 13, 2007, 9:30 am – 5:00 p.m.
One of the most popular areas at the festival each year is the “Children’s Arena”, that provides hands-on activities, a best-dressed pet show and special entertainment for kids. Fall colors begin to appear in the higher elevations around this time of year. Those who linger for the weekend will find more to do on Sunday, such as a picnic at Lake James State Park; museum-hopping among three sites featuring minerals, pioneer and Indian settlement history and early railroad days; panning for gold; exploring the underground of Linville Caverns; or a scenic ride along the Blue Ridge Parkway and visit the working Orchard at Altapass. The festival is sponsored by the City of Marion.
