The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation announces an online auction at www.eBay.com  to benefit one of the National Park Service’s flagship programs —Parks As Classrooms— a public school program, which awakens youth to Parkway resources. This curriculum based program places Park Service Rangers into the public school system each year to instill resource protection values for the country’s national parks. The key search words at eBay.com are “Blue Ridge Parkway.” The auction will run Monday, September 17 through Wednesday, September 26.

“This is one of the best investments that we can make in the future of the Blue Ridge Parkway, “ emphasizes Dan Brown, Parkway Superintendent. “Our youth are our future visitors, protectors, and advocates.” This program reaches nearly 30,000 kids annually.

Popular Parkway neighbor resorts, hotels, and bed & breakfasts entities have teamed for this extremely popular event.

Accommodations participating are the Grove Park Inn (Asheville, NC), Chetola Resort and Conference Center (Blowing Rock, NC), Glendale Springs (NC) Inn, Harmony Farm Bed & Breakfast (Floyd, VA), and Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center (Roanoke, VA). Dinner offerings are part of most accommodation packages.

The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation is the private supporting foundation for the Blue Ridge Parkway and operates through a cooperative agreement with the National Park Service.

“We are excited about this Parkway charity event,” exclaims Dr. Houck Medford, Executive Director of the Foundation. “This gives our prospects almost two weeks to follow the auction and make their bids.”
