Ann Vasilik to Exhibit Watercolors at the North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville

Asheville watercolorist, Ann Vasilik, displays paintings inspired by forty years of travel in an exhibit titled “Around the World:  People, Places and Plants.” The show runs from Friday, June 22, 2007 through Wednesday, October 31, 2007, in The North Carolina Arboretum's newly opened Baker Exhibit Center.  Starting June 22, the new facility will serve as the visitor information center for the Arboretum. The Ann Vasilik show is the first of many ongoing exhibits of science, art and culture that will be showcased in the Baker Exhibit Center‚s new exhibition hall.

As an artist always seeking new levels of expression, Vasilik believes "travel awakens the senses."  According to Vasilik, "new flora and fauna, ancient architectures, foreign accents, new friends and cultures; all enhance learning and tolerance. But most of all, travel deepens appreciation of all the riches we have here at home. It refreshes what was familiar and now is seen with new eyes." Almost all of the paintings included in the exhibit will be seen for the first time at the Arboretum, and several will be taken from the artist‚s home gallery for public enjoyment.
