See naturally occuring crystalline gold from the world famous collection of the Harvard Mineralogical Museum, now through December 31 at the Coburn Gem & Mineral Museum. The exhibit includes gold from all of the world’s major gold rushes and the largest remaining gold specimen from South Carolina, which is twice the size of a man’s fist.

On May 10, the whole family will enjoy the Panning for Gold workshop to learn the techniques that miners used during North Carolina’s Gold Rush. Try your hand at panning for gold. Gold Fever! is a program for children, also on May 10, that includes stories about children and gold, and how to tell real gold from fool’s gold.
