Mill Mountain Theatre expands its adult classes with the new Stage Combat Workshop: Beginning Hand-to-Hand. The workshop, taught by certified fight choreographer David Dvorscak and assistant Shawn McCraken, will be the weekend of July 31-August 2 at Mill Mountain Theatre in Roanoke.

This workshop is an introduction to the art and craft of unarmed stage combat technique, emphasizing the safe and dramatically effective performance of falls, rolls, slaps, punches and kicks. It is open to adults in good physical condition.

The Acting Lab, which explores several specific aspects of acting, begins June 1 and will be taught by Doug Zschiegner, resident director at Mill Mountain Theatre. This 10-session adult class focuses on the sue of acting techniques to improve communication skills and increase appreciation of live theater. Students will learn contemporary scenes and monologues. The class ends in an informal recital.

Applications for Mill Mountain Theatre’s Children’s Summer Drama Day Camp are still available. This is a hands-on theater experience for rising third through fifth graders.
