On-the-Square Arts
and Crafts Festival slated for Newland, North Carolina |
The 23rd annual On The Square Art and Crafts
Festival hosted by the Avery Arts Council will be Saturday July 31 in
the Newland, NC, town square.
More than 80 booths offer the best of the region's arts and crafts. Some
participants will demonstrate their talents at their booths while others,
reserved for non-profit, civic and charitable organizations, will offer
baked goods, plants and raffle tickets.
The day-long event, 9 to 5, is free and open to the public. Entertainment
of many kinds will be offered throughout the day on the square. An auction
at 12 noon will sell craft and art items by the vendors at the show, dinners
at local restaurants, tickets to local events and more.
A Children's Corner will keep youngsters occupied and happy with arts
and crafts activities, prizes and face painting.
Food from various vendors will be available, from delicacies like chicken
and trout to summertime favorites like hamburgers, hot dogs, ice cream
and lemonade.
Friday evening, July 30, will be a street dance On the Square in Newland
to usher in the Festival. It features a live band and a small admission
charge.
Join in the fun in the cool Western North Carolina mountains on July
30-31.
