Flat Rock Playhouse, the state theater of North Carolina, opened an ambitious season recently, with an expanded production year that now extends through December 12. Opening the season is The Last Night of Ballyhoo, running through June 9. This Tony Award winning play is from the author of Driving Miss Daisy and is filled with southern humor. June 9-19 is Wrong For Each Other by Norm Foster, a roller coaster ride all about love. Sugar Babies, the burlesque musical which starred Mickey Rooney and Ann Miller in the original Broadway production, runs June 23-July 10. The wonderful classic, The King and I, opens July 14 and runs through August 14. The Honky Tonk Angels features coutry music's finest ladies, August 18-September 5. Look Homeward Angel, adapted from Thomas Wolfe's Pulitzer Price novel, runs September 8 - 26. Grease rocks its way through Flat Rock, October 6-24.
